rri. u j AUCKLAND. August 23. _ The Hoard of Conciliation—comprising the Kev. G. Burges?, Messrs John Fawcus, A. U. Eneas, J. J. Holland, and J. M. Shora—aro sitting on the dispute between the Auckland'branch of , the Federated Seamen a Union and the Northern Steamship Company, Alexander M'Gregor (owner of the Kia Ora and Rose Casey), Captain Shaw (of the Terranora), Leyland and 0 Bnen (owners of the Stella), and Captain Braidwood (of the e.s. Akaroa). The union ask for an increase of 10s per mouth in the wages of lamp trimmers, able seamen, ordinary seamen, boys, and other employes (excepting officers) engaged on deck ; overtime of la an hour between 5 p.m. and 7 a.m. ; that crews of vessels leaving ports on Sundays or holidays shall be paid not less than 4a per man; when excursions aro run on Sunday the whole of the crew to be naid overtime not to exceed 8s nor less than 4s per man; an increase, of 30s per month for firemen, greasers, etc., engaged, in the engine room and stokehole, who work sixhour watches j discontinuance of time off instead of overtime pay; and five statutory holidays in the year. -
