TAHUNA TROTTING CLUB MEETING.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—l was pleased to see that the Tahuna Trotting Club had received such large acceptances for their first day's meeting—large, because most of the owners are keeping their horses for Record Reigu Day. This must be exceedingly gratifying to Mr G. Dowse, whose conduct has been questioned by some letter-writer 3 within the last few days, and whose letters haveall emanate! from the same Darty, who are well known. I say gratifying to Mr Dowse, lut how dreadfully! disappointing to the "Rich Hay" Syndicate, Limited, who have done their best to pain aud injure him in every possible direction. I hope that every nominator will accept for Record Reign Day to show his appreciation of the services rendered by Mr ')owse to the club. The stewards will, no ioubt, bear in mind that there are a number of horses running in the interests of th** above syndicate, and that any two running in the same race will have to be bracketed on the machine. With regard to one of the trotters engaged, several watchers are determined to keep him " steadily in view," and if there be any signs of stiffness shown they will insist on a good man riding him for the purpose of testing his capabilities, which are well known to be great —I am, etc.. Watch. Dunedin, June 14.
