'THE WEARING 0' THE GREEN.'
SUNG BY OUR PREMIER. A CHARGE OFDISLOYALTY. [Pee Mail Steamer at Auckland.} • On the trip from Auckland a concert was given on the Alameda. Mr Seddon sang 'The Wearing o' the Green.'' As the song is said to be held in especial aversion by the Qaeen, it provoked some comment. "An attempt was made to make a sensation of the incident, but Mr Seddon, who was in excellent singing voice, says he simply sang the song by request, and saw no reason why it should cause any comment Mr Seddon said he expected to be back in New Zealand by September. A passenger by the steamer says of this incident that the song caused no adverse comment till a letter appeared in a Fan Francisco paper abcut it. After leaving San Francisco Mr Seddon departed for the East via Salt Lake and Chicago en route to London. Seen by an interviewer, Mr Seddon said that New Zealand was enjoying a just season of pleasing prosperity. The country had escaped the brunt of the big bank panic which afflicted the Australian colonies.
