INHIBITING THE SALE OF A NOVEL.
WELLINGTON, Jive 16. Some of the booksellers in town, but not all, have received notice inhibiting the sale of Mr Hume Ni3bet'a novel 'The Swampers.' The book oontaina tho most galling criticism of Australian people and manners, ami especially of Sydney residents and of certain journal*. The city editor of one of the la' ter, thickly veiled under the name of Guillotine, is called Pnft Adder, and, it is understood, it is this gentleman who has taken the very unusual course of endeavoring to stop'the sale of the book. Mr Nisbet recently visited Aiwt-ralu, going out as a steerage passenger in a sailing ship in order to pwk up experience.
