[Per Press Association.—Copyright.] LONDON, Jdne 15. Speaking at the banquet given by the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce Sir H. Nelson (Queensland) said, that England would some day .find the colonial sugar industry ruined, and she would then be at the mercy of foreigners. Mr Kingston (Soutk Australia) spoke on the his recent speech at Leeds. Mr Laurier (Canada) said that if the existing British commercial treaties were applied to Canada Canada must retreat or Britain advance. The solution of- the difficulty rested with Britain. Sir Q. Turner (Victoria) said the colonies were anxious to enter into an equitable bargain with the Mother Country centring the whole trade in Britain. MrSeddon said the way to encourage inter-Empire trade was for the Government to subsidise steamers, so reducing freights and preventing foreigners from :. British goods owing to their receiving State subsidies.
