THE TAIYUAN GOLD ROBBERY.
(Peb Pbess Association.— Copyright.j SYDNEY, June 14, Captain Fawkes, who commanded the Taiyuan to TlfUrsday Island and accompanied the steamer to Hongkong, has returned to Sydney. He states that the gold robbery was not discovered till the steamer was six days out from Thursday Island. He then found the key safe. It was kept by officer. The chief officer declared that he saw the stolen gold three days after the vessel left Thursday Island, so the robbery must have been committed on the voyage across to China. On reachport the strictest search was kept on the crew and passengers by the ship, but there was absolutely no clue.
