PORT CHALMERS SWIMMING TOURNAMENT.
The annual swimming tournament of the Port Chalmers District High School was successfully carried out in the public baths on Wednesday afternoon. The weather was perfect, and as the events were keenly contested and moirt of the finishes very close the spectators were afforded a good exhibition of swimming. Although the attendance in the baths was very fair, still the Committee, considering the smallness of the admission fee, regret that so many take advantage of the natural pavilion behind the baths, and, while themselves enjoying an afternoon's sport, in no way assist and encourage the Committee in their efforts to popularise swimming. The following are the results of the events : Learners' Race.—A. Crammond I, "J Craramond 2. Learners' Race (under 16). T. Mooney (7sec) 1, C. Johnson (scratch) 2. Back Swimming.—B. Tennent 1, D.
