SOCIAL MEETINGS.
An interesting programme was presented at the Walker street Mission Hall last evening to a large audience. Miss Walker and Mr Robertson gave a vocal duet, as did Miss and Mr Sanders. Solos were given by Mrs Goldsmith, Misses C. Churchill and M'Carthy, and Messrs J. Beck, Beath, Melville, and Richards, the first-named three gentlemen contributing 'two songs each; piano duets were given by Misses Nimmo and Walker, M'Carthy and Kinvig; and piano solos by Miss C. Apstein and Mr Cooper. Next Monday night will be the closing night for this season. The employed of the Burnside Freezing Works this afternoon presented Mr Stewart, the secretary of the company, with a tea and coffee service on the occasion of his marriage. Mr Scott, in making the presentation, referred to the kindly relations that had always existed between the secretary and the employes, and Mr Stewart briefly and suitably responded. Mr Stewart was also the recipient of a marble clock from the employes of the Oamaru works.
