•Schonholz, leader of the Incendiary Society, for firing places of business in the chief cities of Amerioa, has been sentenced to forty-eight years' imprisonment. The Governor of Goa is closely besieged, and his chief officials have fled.
Prior to the French troops entering Antananarivo the Hovas murdered their prisoners, and were about to attack the English, missionaries when the French appeared at the gates. The arrests at St. John's in connection with the smuggling scandals include Tobin Whiteway and the governor of the Savings Bauk> The Armenian Patriarch Is satisfied with the promised reforms. Shakir Pasha is High Commissioner. A member of the crew of the Cuzco suffered from smallpox just before the vessel started from Sydney for Melbourne. The man has passed the worst stages, though the risk of contagion is still present. Owing to the scarcity of wheat in Sydney the price of flour has advanced 5s per ton, and was yesterday quoted at £8 15s.
