CITY COUNCIL REPORTS.

At to-morrow night's meeting of the City Council the Water Committee will report that in the house-to-house inspection of water services, etc., now being carried on many cases have been found of house taps being insufficiently turned off, whereby a continuous escape of water is allowed to take Elace, and with the object of stopping this sakage the inspector has been instructed to report all such cases, so that legal proceedings may be taken against offenders for permitting a waste of water on their premises. The Reserves Committee recommend, inter alia, that the ranger has been instructed to use his best endeavor to catch some of the boys who Btart fires in the bush on the Town Belt and bring them before the Stipendiary Magistrate. The remainder of the reports deal with nothing outside departmental business.
