SPORTING INTELLIGENCE.

The tenth annual report of the Dunedin Amateur Athletic Club for the year ended the 30th June records the results of the various sports meetings, and also contains the following clauses :—Messrs N. L. Macbeth and G. C. Matheson were the club’s delegates to the N.Z.A.A.A., and fulfilled all their duties satisfactorily, and have earned your best thanks. The club sustained a severe loss through Air P. J. Ness having to resign the secretaryship, and your Committee desire to place on record the many valuable services he has rendered. Mr Ness was always painstaking and obliging, and filled the position with entire credit to the club and to himself. Air D. Duncan is still hon. handicapper, and his generous and valuable services so heartily given at all times are worthy of your highest appreciation. The membership stands much the same as in previous years, but your Committee regret having again to draw attention to the difficulty in obtaining subscriptions, and hope that members will assist the officers of the club in financial matters with more liberality. Trie year was begun with a credit balance of £ll Is Cd, and ends with a credit of only £2 17s, thus showing a loss £8 4s 61 on the year’s work. In conclusion, your retiring Committee beg to express the hope that their successors may receive more loyal and hearty support from members, for without unanimity and common enthusiasm it is impossible to make a club successful, and the Dunedin Amateur Athletic Club should stand second to none iu the colony as an athletic body. We therefore appeal to members to exert themselves during the incoming season, and if members will only do this and work together there is no reason why the championship banner should not come to Dunedin,
