DEATH FROM EXPOSURE.

At about 7.15 o’clock this morning Mr E. Alexander reported to (Sergeant Brown, of South Dunedin, that he had found the body of an ellerly man on the Main rend "from St. Clair to , the racecourse, about 650 yds from the Metropole Hotel, The deceased proved to be Nicholas Been, a laborer, who resided with his wife and family in Prince Edward road, South Dunedin. He left his home about 430 p. in. yesterday for St. Clair, where he had been employed by Mr F. Ibbotson. He was quite sober when he left home. Deceased called at the Metropole Hotel, St. Clair, about 5 p. m., and remained there till 945 p.m., aud during his stay it is said that he had several drinks, leaving for home under the influence of liquor. When found by Mr Alexander ho was in a dying condition. Dr Fulton was immediately called in, but deceased died before his arrival. The doctor gave it as his opinion that death resulted from exposure. An inquest will be held to-morrow.
