CITY POLICE COURT. (Before Messrs VV. Aitken and J. Angus, J.P.s.)
Drun ken n ess. — Francis Halliday and his wife, Sarah Ilallidaij, who found drunk in the Octagon yesterday afternoon, were each fined ss, in default twenty-four hours' imprisonment. A Carman in’ Trouble.— William Leary was charged with, on the 25th July, plying for hire on other than a licensed stand; IJe pleaded guilty. cuted.—Accused was also charged with, on the same date, stopping his carriage alongside a tramcan—Accused said he did not understand the charge,—lnspector Barron gaid that a week past yesterday, at r. quarterpast four in the afternoon, the defendant stood his cab in the middle of Princes street and called out for passengers. . The irispeotor told the man he would summon him, and defendant said that if that was so he might os well stop where he was and get a load. Defendant then pulled his cab alongside a tram, and stopped there for sometime. — Evidence was given by James Gray and John Golder,—Accused was fined 5s and costs (7s) in the first case, and Is without costs in the second.
