Th. louse Committee reported that Mr A. hmith had been appointed fireman to the ■tmitv ion, and ihat he went on duly on the 22nd o: last mouth. The Education Board had granted permission to cart clay from the site of the Middle District School to fill up places adjoining the new laundry. Mi James Casey's tender for carting the clay at lid a yard hud been accepted. The new laundry < was occupied on the 26th April, and the laundress and ward-maid were transferred to their new quarters.—Adopted. The Finance Committee reported that salaries and accounts for the month of April, amounting to foil 6s 3d, had been passed-for payment, subject to the approval ' of the Trustees. The receipts for last month were as follow •. Inpatients, £93 17s 6d; out-patients, £7; donations, £6 ; sales, £3 los4d ; students' fees, £22 2s; total, £132 14s JOd. The receipts for the present month to dale were :—ln-patients, "£35 12s Sd • out-patient e,. £3 9s; Industrial .School (medicine), £3 8-; H.M. Gaol (medicine), £5 la 3d; students' fees, £ls 15s: bequest, £SO ; sales 18,; toul, £ll7 3s lid. The bank pass book showed a credit balance of £258 Gs lid, which, with cash in hand-(£57 10s 8d), totalled to £346 3* 7.1. The amount to the _ credit of tho Campbell bequest was £477_ 17s. An account for £l7 10s for a weighing machine was submitted. The building fund account showed a debit balance of £761 8s 3d. A btqucst of £SO had been received from the executors in the estate of the late Mrs Macildowie. The sum of £37S llsod would be required from the Hospital Board for the payment of salaries and accounts for the month of April.— Adopted, the bequest of £SO to be paid into the budding account. Drs Colquhoun *nd Duvies reported that they had examined by means of a written paper and viva voce the following nurses, and that they had all satisfied the examiners that they were competent to act as nurses : —Nurses Malheson, Bryce, Gmien,.Lowes, French, and Beckingsalc. The doctors also reported that Nurses Stewart and Ross had passed the necessary examination. Miss Frasf-r, the matron of the hospital, was present, and assisted at the examinations.— Report received, and the he spited certificate to 1)3 i'sned to the first six named in the report.
