[Per United Press Association. J WOODVILLE, December 31. A petition is being got up here urging the Government to acquire Mr Ormond's property of 3,500 acres for settlement. The long spell of dry weather is unprecedented here at this season, and rain is badly wanted. TIMARU, December 31. Messrs Fyfe and Graham, who have returned from Mount Cook, report having successfully scaled the three peaks.
