ACKNOWLEDGMENTS.

TO THE EDITOR.

Sir,—My official connection with the church in£tbe Oddfellows’ Hall,'. Stuart street, terminating on the 30th of this mcnth, I desire previous to leaving Dunedin te express, through your columns, ray high appreciation of the many acts of editorial courtesy extended to me during my short period of work in this City. In no city that I have ever been in have I enjoyed so much liberty for the ventilation of matters of public, religious, social, and moral interest as here. For this I tender my grateful thanks, and shall remember with joy this feature of Dunedin journalism. To His "Worship the Mayor (may he live long and be at peace), for the uniform courtesy he has extended to me, I tender to him, as a public minister of God’s service (the mayor, I mean, by “ minister of God’s service ”), the tribute which is duo to him in the high office he is called to fill, I refer your readers to the revised version of Romans xiii., 1-7, and your more critical readers to the Greek text of the same passage. To Dr Stenhouse and courteous members of the Burns Club, for the social courtesies I have experienced at their hands, my kind thanks are hereby tendered for all such. To my co-workers in the cause of social reform, to aU the many friends I have in and around this City, my best wishes for your prosperity and happiness in the coming year are hereby expressed.—l am, etc. Robert 0.
