THE OPERA.
There was a large attendance at the theatre last evening, when the last performance of the romantic opera 'Ma Mie Rosette' was given. Everything went very smoothly. The capability of the stage management is demonstrated during the second aot, when in the ball room scene the large company move about easily, and the action and music proceed without the slightest symptom of disorder. Miss Nellie Stewart and Mr W. Brownlow were in good voice, and the other principals were successful in their efforts. This evening ' Paul Jones' (a synopsis of the plot of which will be found on our fourth page) will be staged> It has proved one of the most successful comic operas ever produced in Australia, and enjoyed phenomenal runs both in Sydney and Melbourne. , Miss Stewart appears tn one of her favorite characters, Mr Brownlow assumes the title role, and Mr S. Deane makes his first appearance this season. The performance will begin at a quarter to eight.
