WKLLINGTON, December 29.
Mr Garrard, Minister of Public Instruction for the New South Wales Government, visits New Zealand early next month. The Stock Department has received from the Agent-General a copy of the notice issued by the Imperial War Department inviting tenders for storage and the supply of frozen mutton for the use of the British troops at Malta and Gos;o.
The Hon. Mr Reeves returned from Australia by t!he Port Melbourne, which arrived bbia morning. He is accompanied by Mrs Reeves.
John Callaghan, another of the Kaikoura's firemen, has been committed for trial in oonuection with the assault on Quarter master Harris. CHRISTCHURCH, December 29.
At the adjourned inquest on the woman Emma Pike, who was found drowned in the Avon on Christmas morning, no new evidence of importance was elicited. Verdict: " Found drowned."
