VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.

The annual muster parade of the Dunedin Highland Rifles was held in the Garrison Hall on Tuesday night, tlicro being present —Captain Gillies, Lieutenant Nelson, and fifty-eight non-commissioned officers and men, out of a total available strength of sixty-six. Captain Beal (in the absence of Lieutenant-colonel Webb and Major Callan) was inspecting officer, and congratulated the corps on the good muster aud cleanliness of accoutrements. After parade Captain Gillies announced with great regret that the junior subaltern had resigned, aud as there was no possibility of the resignation being reconsidered it was decided to receive nominations and elect another lieutenant. The Shooting Committee are compiling a splendid programme for the season, aud the competitions are expected to be very keen.
