The following petition to Parliament has been prepared by Bishop Cowie for signature of the Anglican clergy in his diocese:— The humble petition of the clergy and members of the church of the province of New Zealand, commonly sailed the Church of England, in the diocese of Auckland, to the honorable House of Representatives in Parliament assembled: Whereas (here is now before your honorable Boose a Bill entitled an Act to Amend the Law of Divorce, by which Bill divorce is to be allowed on other grounds besides adultery, we, the undersigned, humbly petition your honorable House not to make any change hi the marriage laws of the colony which would ftmy—flft the facility of obtaining a dissolution of marriage; sod your petitioners will ever pray, eta. i Bishop Cowie is preparing a pastoral letter o| the subject, inviting tho clergy to bring the matter before their congregations.
