The House of Representatives has passed the Free Sugar Bill. Several Senators stand shares in the profits which the Sugar Trust expect to make out of the Senate Bill. August 15.

Tho Seuato Tariff Bill will become operative on the 26th inst. unless the President's signature is attached at an earlier date. The House of Representatives is widely condemned for any yielding in the matter. (Received August 16, 1894, at 11.15 a.m.)

The Senate has read the Lower Ilouse's Bill a first time.
