VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.
The North Dunedin Rifles fired the monthly competition for Captain M'Nab's Erize and prizes presented (o the company y Messrs John Gillies, P. Toomey, and the Kaitangata Coal Company at Pelichet Bay range on Saturday afternoon last. The distances were 400 and 500 yards; seven shots. Fourteen members competed. An unsteady wind caused the scores to be below the average. The following are the highest scores :
Those at present leading for the prize are— Lieutenant Johnston (14 points), Private Richardson (13 points), and Private Hutchinson (10 points). Seventeen points is the number required to win.
