The Duke of Devonshire and several members of the Labor Commission have issued a supplementary report proposing that trades unions and masters' associations shall be registered as corporate bodies, and disputes settled by legal proceedings between then).

The largest mines in Pennsylvania reopen with non-union labor. They will be defended by cordons of police. The Cripple Creek miners have given up their arms.
The adjourned general meeting of the Tailoresses' Union was held in the Y.W.C.A. Hall last evening. Mr G. Plivfihes presided, and there was a good attendance of members. It was resolved to hold the monthly meetings in future on the first Monday in each month, iustpad pf the first Tuesday. The nomination of officers for the. ensuing year then took glace, and resulted as follows:—Mr G. rurches' was re-elected president; Miss ITixcroau and tjfto Hon. .W. M. Bplt, M.L.C., Vese re-ejec^cd" v^ce-presidents; Mips Methven was appointed treasurer; Miss H. R. Morrison was re-£le.cteitl secretary" unopposed; Miss Turner was appointed trustee, vice Miss Omaiid (deceased/. Seven members were nominated and elected as representfttJvffj on the Committee of Management. A London cable received to-day says that another strike is feared in England. A great many men here are out of work, and a meeting will bo held on Saturday to .consider the Best means to be adopted. As showing the true state of affairs, for three small bush-felling contracts no less than 150 tenders were received.
