ARRIVED.-May 8.

Rotomahana, s.s., 865 tons, Chatfield, from Melbourne via Hobart and the Bluff. Passengers: Misses M'Kenzie, M. Hislop, M. A. Lord, Tulioch, Mesdames Neall, Brook and children, Meredith, child, and nurse, Messrs Meredith, E. J. Legg, A. Scones, Huxtable ; nine steerage.

SAILED.-May 8. Invercargill, s.s., 136 tons, Suudstrom, for Preservation Inlet via Invercargill.

The Opawa completed ballasting this afternoon, and was towed down to Port Chalmers to be docked for scraping and cleaning. The schooner Marniion is loading at the Jetty street wharf for Napier. The Rotomahana, with passengers and cargo from Melbourne via Hobart and the Bluff, arrived at the tongue wharf this morning. She left Melbourne at 2.50 p.m. on the 2nd inst., and reached Hobart at 8.20 a.m. on the 4th; left again at 2 p.m. same (lay, and reached the Bluff at 2.15 p.m. on the 7th inst.; left again at 5.15 p.m., and arrived as above. The Invercargill left the Rattray street wharf this afternoon for Preservation Inlet via Invercargill. The Herald discharged cargo at the Jetty street wharf to-day. The Matatua has put out about 2,200 tons of cargo at the Victoria wharf. The Tongariro has taken in a quantity of carcasses of frozen mutton, cases of cheese, and packages butter. The Beautiful Star and lighter Trusty were floated out of the graving dock this morning. Between the 21st and the 25th ult. the ltotomahana was exposed to a fresh W.S.W. gale, attended with heavy seas and fierce squalls, owing to which Captain Chatficld deemed it advisable to slow down the engines during the worst portions of the storm. The run across from Hobart was marked by fresh W.S.W. breezes and passing squalls of wind and rain.—' Argus.'
