LAND BOARD.

The weekly meeting yesterday was attended by the Commissioner of Lands (Mr J. P. Maitlami) and Commissioners Clark, Dallas, Duncan, and M'Kerrow. Mr J. T. M'Q.uade applied for exemption from residence on small-grazing run section 1, block 10, Maerewhenua. Residence dispensed with. Mr James Hore asked to be allowed to take up small-grazing run No. 220, Gimmerburn, or small-grazing run, section 2, block 17. Maniototo, without competition.—Declined.

The Receiver of Land Revenue reported that J. G. Harrington, whose perpetual lease 4!)3, Lauder, was declared forfeited, has now paid arrears.—Resolution forfeiting the lease rescinded.

Mr George Page applied for the grazing right over section 21, block 4, Woodland.— Declined.

Messrs Reid and Hazel applied for a license to occupy one acre of section 80, block "), Shotover, for the purpose of erecting a sheep dip thereon. The Lake County Council also wrote in regard to the application. —Consideration deferred.

Mr M. D. Manuel, lessee of small-grazing run 199e, Teviot, complained that the occupation license granted to Mr M. M'Donald had taken away the frontage of the run, and the writer asked that the occupation license be cancelled and the area added to run 109k. —The Board could not see their way under the circumstances to recommend at present any action being taken as requested. Mr Mark Roberts applied for a rehearing of hi 3 application under section 115 of the Act for section 2, block 12, Gimmerburn.— Consideration deferred. The Under-Secretary for Lands forwarded Mr William M'Kay's letter in connection with section 8, block 15, Greenvale. —The Board could not see their way to alter their previous decision. Messrs R. B. Martin and Son applied, on behalf of Mr R. Spratt, for a license to occupy portion of forest reserve north of sections 3 and 4, block 13, Sutton, under section 110 of the Act.—Yearly license granted at Od per acre. The Receiver of Land Revenue reported that Andrew M ; Kenzie, whose perpetual leases 274 and 275, Greenvale, were declared forfeited, had now paid all arrears.—Yearly license granted for grazing purposes only at 9d per acre. Mr T. Chalmer, on behalf of Mr 0. S. Fulton, applied to be allowed to surrender runs Nos. 34Gi; and 346 c, Wakatipu.— It wa3 resolved that the Governor be recommended to authorise the Commissioner of Lands to accept surrender of runs in question, the rent being in the opinion of the Board excessive.

Mr T. Chalmer, on behalf of Mr John Rawcliffc, applied, under section 114 of the Act, for 150 acres, part of section 4, block 8, Swinburn. —Declined. Mr T. Chalmer, on behalf of the Swinburn Farm Association, applied for a license to occupy for grazing purposes the. 209 acres of Crown lands in block 7, Swinburn, fronting sections 5, 11, and 12. —License to be issued to the Swinburn Farm Association for one year, renewable under section 116, on the condition that the Association undertake the destruction of the rabbits, at a yearly rental of ss.

An application by R. H. Catherwood to transfer portion of perpetual lease, section 24, block 2, Catlins, to Alfred Catherwood, was referred to the Chief Surveyor to have survey effected.

Mr' Samuel Hanger applied for a license to occupy, for small-grazing purposes, section 13, block 5, Blackstone.—License granted for a year at 9d per acre. The Surveyor-General wrote in regard to tho prices put upon land in blocks 5 and C, Woodland.—Consideration deferred.

Mr W. A. Johnstone wrote asking that he be allowed valuation for fencing between sections 1 and 2, block 3, Blackstone, and small-grazing run 224h. —ln the event of applicant not being successful in obtaining small-grazing run 2241, the provisions of the Fencing Act enable him to obtain half cost of boundary fence from occupier of run, or interest on same.

The following applications were approved : —For rural land on lease in perpetuity ; S.' Barker, section 08, block 6, Clarendon; James Parker, section 16, block 4, Glenkenich. To complete purchase of deferred payment: W. D. Mason, section 19, block 10, Strath Taieri. To exchange agricultural lease for lease in perpetuity : Mark Roberts, sections 19 and 20, block 6, Gimmerburn. To exchange perpetual lease for lease in perpetuity : John Mulholland, jun., section 24a, block 6, Gimmerburn. To transfer portions of perpetual leases: William Leal to Robert Warnock, 100 acres, part of section 14, block 7, Woodland (Mr T. Chalmer, agent). To purchase land under perpetual lease (to be recommended for Minister's approval): George Campbell, section 33, block 10, Maerewhenua (Messrs R. B. Martin and Son, agents). To complete purchase of deferred payment land: David Simpson, section 28, block 8, and section 8, block 3, Kurow. To transfer perpetual, lease: John Hore to R. S. F.
