LAND BOARD.

Yesterday's meeting of the Land Board was attended by the Commissioner of Lands (Mr J. 1\ Maitland) and Commissioners Clark, Dallas, Duncan, and M'Kerrow. Mr d. Chaloner, on behalf of Mr William Sutherland, jun., applied to be allowed to surrender small-grazing run 191r., section 3, block 4, Kakanui.— Consideration deferred. Mr 10. J. Vernon applied for the grazing right over bush reserves, Whitecombe (run 319 is), on condition of keeping the land clear of rabbits.—Declined. Mr William Walsh applied to surrender pastoral lease sections 11, 14, and 14a, block 7, Waihemo.—The Board recommended the Governor to authorise the Chief Comniismissioner to accept surrender of lease under the circumstances. Mr V. Ryan applied, under section 115 of the Land Act, to be allowed to accpuire sections 12 and 10, block 16, Maniototo.—To be allowed to acquire sections in question on lease in perpetuity at capital value of 20s per acre. The proposed regulations for the management of the Clyde and Cromwell commonages were submitted for consideration.— Regulations proposed by the Government agreed to as amended. The Board were requested to consider as to how the 835 acres, portion of run No. 226 d not surveyed, and also the 1,300 acres formerly the south-eastern portion of run No. 226b, Maniototo, should be dealt with. —To stand-over for a week.

Messrs A. Brown and Co. applied for the right of grazing run subdivisions Nos. 170b, 170 c, 170 d, and 170e, Beaumont, until such time as disposed of, on condition of keeping the land clear of rabbits.—Agreed to. Ranger Mackenzie wrote in regard to the improvements of section 67, block 12, Lower Hav/ea.—To be reopened as village homestead allotment at 20s per acre, with valuation for improvements £lO 2s 6d. Ranger Mackenzie reported on Mr John Matheson's application to be allowed to surrender perpetual leases 1,014 and 1,046, sections 4 to 9, block 3, Lower Hawea, and section 2, block 3, Lower Hawea, and section 3, block 6, Lower Wanaka.—Surrender accepted. Recommended for notification at 10s per acre, with valuation for improvements £149 Bs.

The Waitaki County Council forwarded a supplementary list showing upon what roads it was intended to expend money accruing from deferred payment, perpetual lease, and small-grazing runs.—-Road lines approved. The Receiver of Land Revenue reported that the rent on the following runs was still unpaid:—Run 444, Lake County, James Ferris ; and Run 335b, Vincent County, H. M'Lean.—To be gazetted for forfeiture. Rangor Eraser forwarded valuation of improvements effected by Mr James Chapman on. small-grazing run No. 200, Domet, Kakanui, anil Kyeburn.—Run to be offered with valuation for improvement £57 14s.

Mr R. I. M'Cann applied for the right to rabbit the subdivisions of run 170, Beaumont. —Declined.

Ranger Hughan reported on camping reserve, section 118, block"3, Papakaio. Mr John Parker wrote applying for a lease of the section.—License to issue under Public Reserve Act, 1881, for three years to John Parker at a rental of £1 per annum and £l. Is license fee.

Ranger Fraser reported on small-grazing run No. 190, section 2, block 4, Kakanui, held by Mr John Chesney.— Consideration deferred for a week.

Mr Adam Begg, on behalf of the Anderson Bay Cemetery Trustees applied for an additional area of twenty - three acres adjoining the southern boundary of the present cemetery. —On survey being effected and furnished to Board the reserve will be recommended. The following applications were approved: —For rural land on occupation with right of purchase —John Lowauce, section 17, block 3, Tuapeka. To exchange perpetual lease for base in perpetuity—H. Baxter, section 11, block 13, Maniototo; Hugh Baxter, sot - tons 12 and 13, block 13, -Maniototo ; and G. 8. O'Neill, section 7, block 1, Maniototo. To complete purchase of deferred payment — R. S. F. Inder, section 8, block 11, Naseby. James Ritchie applied under section 114 of tne Land Act for 50 acres in block 3, Cromwell.—To be allowed to purchase 58 acres in place of 50 previously approved by the Board. A similar application by W. G. Millar for section 21, block 6, Maniototo, was declined, the land having been notified. John Reid applied to cancel perpetual lease section 45,.b10ck 1, Akatore.—Lease forfeited. The Receiver of Land Revenue reported that Mr R. Donald had paid arrears due upon deferred-payment license No. 5,122. Resolution No. 18 of April 5 rescinded. Stock Inspector Ironside suggested that the grazing right over run 226k be given to Messrs Dalgety and Co. until the runs were disposed of, on condition of their undertaking the due destruction of rabbits.— Referred to Chief Commissioner to arrange.
