THE UPPER HOUSE AND THE HIGHER HONOR.

TO THE KDITOIt. Sin,—At his meeting held in the City Hall last evening Mr H. S. Fish, M. H. R., included my name in his list of those whom he considered should have had a preference in making calls to the Legislative Council by reason of their long public services as members of the House of Representatives. As it is possible that what Mr Fish said on the subject with reference to myself may be misunderstood, and is not unlikely to leave the impression that I had advanced a claim or made a request to be nominated to the Council, will you permit me to say that I have never done so. Creat as the honor would be to be nominated by the Government to the Legislative Council, there" is a greater,' to which I again with confidence aspire—-that of being elected by Hie people to the House of Representatives'. —I am, etc., William KCkron. Cavcrsham, June 3.
