WASHINGTON, May 1
President Cleveland and the entire Cabinet, together with the foreign delegates, have assembled at Chicago to take part in the ceremony in connection with the opening of the World's Fair. . Very few of the courts at the Chicago Exhibition* will be • ready licfore next month. Sixty divisions are completed, while 140 are still in course'of construction. The New South Wales display is highly praised by the Commissioners.

A thief stole the ashes of Columbus from the Chicago Exhibition and decamped with his booty, but the relic was eventually recovered by a watchman who pursued him. The exhibition is to be opened, although sonic Tjof the buildings are not yet completed. I ? fe fHlay ?.& attributed to the numerous strikes winch Ji.aye taft&ij place among the workmen. The British collection of pictures is a superb one.
