HARBOR BOARD REPORTS.
The following are summaries of the reportslto be presented at to-morrow's meeting of the Harbor Board :
The Works Committee report that Mr R. Duncan, Government engineer surveyor, emphatically denied that the bottom of dredge 222 was in bad order. The dredge, from appearance, was in as good order as when it was launched. A report from the inspector of works stated that the engines and winches gf the dredge had received a thorough overhauling. He hoped to have all repairs done by the end of the week, when the dredge would be put in the new channel.
The Finance Committee report having instructed the treasurer to require payment of balance of Mr A. Tapper's rent of leases. Tho treasurer's returns of revenue and expenditure for the month of March showed a slight decrease of revenue in comparison with the same month last year, there being a heavy falling off in tonnage and slightly in pilotage and port charges, but there was an increase in dues and rents. The decrease amounted to £1,025 14s 2d, £750 of which amount was accounted for by the earnings of dredge 222 during the first quarter last year. There was (lining the quarter of this year an increased expenditure, owing to dredge 222 and the Priestman dredge being at work. Accounts amounting to £3B 14a KM had been passed for payment.
