THE SANDHILLS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir.,—Can you inform your readers if the Ocean Beach Domain Board have any power in respect to the sandhills? I notice that the contractor for the new trotting track at St. Clair has lately been removing sand wholesale from a hill between the racecourse and St. Clair. Now, if the hills are in the bauds of the Board, surely they should not allow the sand to be taken away; and if they are private property, and the owner places no value on them, I think it is hardly right that he should permit the sand to be removed, the result of which will be to allow the sea to come in and destroy valuable sections belonging to people who cannot afford to lose them, and who have been much annoyed from time to time by seeing people taking sand away. Hoping you will be able to give a little information on the subject—lam, etc., St. Kir.ru. Dunedin, March Tt.
