During the debate on the Railway Estimates Mr W. F. Skey, member for Rodfern, accused the Railway Commissioners of favoring the Proudfoots in the matter of railway contracts. The Commissioners have asked the Government to hold an inquiry, but the latter declined, on the ground that they did not attach any importance to the charges. The Proudfoots have issued a writ against Skey claiming LIO,OOO damages. EMIGRATION TO NEW SOUTH WALES STOPPED. SYDNEY, March 15. In consequence of the reduction of the immigration vote Premier Dibbs has cabled jo the Agent-General instructions to stop all emigration to the colony. VICTORIA’S WHEAT YIELD. MELBOURNE, March 15. The Government Statist estimates the Victorian wheat crop at 13,588,000 bushels, equal to an average of 10£ bushels per acre. The total value of wheat, oats, barley, potatoes, and bay raised in the colony Is estimated at 14,744,000, the largest amount for several years.
