THE COLONIAL PRIZE-FIRNING MEETING.

WELLINGTON, March 14 There was a sharp frost last night, but the weather is beautifully fine this morning —very warm, without a breath of wind. Several competitors who fired on Friday and Saturday have retired from various causes, and the total number of competitors now is 225.

The following warning notice was posted this morning;—“ Cartridge cases of different make from those now issued by the Association having been found at the firing points, a search of all squads will be made during the day, and anyone found with ammunition not issued this year by the Association will have his score to date disallowed." In connection with the above, it is stated that the ammunition supplied last year is better that that now in use, hence competitors using it have a decided advantage.
