At Auckland, Cornelius Brown, assault on a child, was acquitted; James M'Farlano, assault on a married woman at Opotiki, was sentenced to nine months' imprisonment. At Hokitika, B. G. Shand, found guilty of issuing a valueless cheque, was admitted to six months? probation ; Ah Bum, breaking and entering, pleaded guilty, and received twelve months’ hard labor; G. S. Ridley, five indictments of larceny, was found guilty of the first and pleaded guilty to the second, and was sentenced to six months’ hard labor. In the divorce case Leger v.
