EXCURSION TO CHRISTCHURCH.
TO THB KDITOB. Sib, —I noticed the letter signed " Vox Populi" in tonight's issue regarding the above. I think it a capital idea, providing the traffic manager allowed passengers to return by any train up to the following Saturday, as that would allow shopkeepers, shop assistants, and others (who cannot get away in the busy season) a chance of not only seeing the football match, but also give them a chance of paying a visit to friends in the City of the Plains. This being the Blackest part of the year, shopkeepers could afford the time to either go themselves or allow their assistants to take a week's holiday. Hoping the railway authorities will see their way to give us a cheap excursion— I am, etc., Shopkeeper. Dunedin, September 4.
