MORNINGTON BOROUGH.
TO THB EDITOB. Sir, —Permit me to refer to the letter in to-night's Star. Whilst heartily endorsing all "Resident" says, I would like to draw his attention to the fact that he has quite ignored localities which, in my opinion, greatly excel those he refers to. Why, sir, a walk down James place would shake bis old bones and give him typhoid. The drain which runs down William street and terminates at the telephone bureau is a disgrace even to the Borough of Mornington; and, although I don't know much about law, I certainly think that the folks who may be taken ill when the warm weather sets in will have a good claim on our borough fathers. If, instead of bungling over the cutting of straight clay-walled roads— ie., Crosby street, e'c.—and leaving people's gates hanging mid-air (vide Mr Maltby's letter to the Council at last meeting), those who are paid to look after the ratepayers' interests would condescend to attend to sanitary matters, we should be a contented and more healthy people.—l am, etc., Another Resident. Mornington, September 4.
