THE DOG NUISANCE.

10 THE EDITOB. Sib,—l saw by a recent decision in Melbourne that the owner of a howling dog was fined, and an injunction issued that the dog must be removed or done away with. For its size, the City of Dunedin and Buburbs contains more of these yelping hounds than any I have lived in ; and both night and day, and along the public streets in front of bakers' and butchers' carts, run these yelping curs, to the intense delight no doubt of the accustomed driver, but to the nuisance of the public. Hoping the inspector of nuisances or police may see fit to do their duty, I, on behalf of invalids and others, seek an abatement. Whether from want of food or general cussedness the animals howl, is best known to their owners. I know many complain of the nuisance and don't want to administer poison.—lam, etc., Canis, Dunedin, June 27.
