TO IHK BDITOB. Bib,—l frankly admit my grammar and English are execrable—unfortunately, cheap university education was, in my young days, above my reach. I often think of the thrashings! received ; even the verb "to love" was a conjugation above capacity, yet in later life i have heard double wranglers say " the grammar; give me the matter; any fool can lick it into grammatical shape." An examiner of university papers—and a Ven. Archdeacon, too—l have heard admit, was always a blockhead at grammar. In the old days, when the Governments had not learnt the wisdom of toleration, meetings were held, and pamphlets published in secret, Surely your correspondent "Athos," even with a desire to crush my "effusions" (vaporsas they may be) could not wish a return to this.—l am, etc., LUMPER.
