At the Gisborne meeting yesterday Kapo easily won the Grand Stand Handicap of one mile and a half, with Wakatipu second and Nora third.* The time was 2min 41iaec, and the dividend L 4 16s. It is said that Mr May, who purchased Nordenfeldt under a commission, had authority to bid up to L 9.000. Yesterday he received an offer for the horse, on behalf of a Victorian, considerably in excess of the price he paid on Monday, Nordenfeldt and the yearlings bought by Mr May will probably be sent to Sydney by the Waihora to-day. The weights for the Gore Cup (one mile and a-half) are : Mon Loup 9.5, Mariner 8 12, Milord 85, Leo 8.2, Galora 8,0. Anonyma 7.12, Forest King 7.9, Victory 6.12, Seaward 6.10, Trapper 6.7. DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB. The outgoing Committee will present the following report to the annual meeting of members to be held on Monday evening next: —“ The Committee have pleasure in submitting their report and balance-sheet for the past year, by which it will be seen that the club continues to make steady progress. Following up the example set by their predecessors, your Committee decided to increase the stakes at the spring meeting, and held four days’ racing instead of the usual two days at that season, which, as will be seen by the balance-sheet, resulted satisfactorily. During the year just past the racecourse, training-course, and grounds generally have been further improved, and are now left in good working order,” The balance-sheet shows that an additional sum of LI,BOI 7s 6d has been placed to deposit, bringing the amount to the credit of the fixed deposit account up to L 6,560. Notwithstanding that L 3,000 more was given in stakes at the spring meeting than at the corresponding fixture of 1888, the meeting shows a substantial surplus. The profits on the various race meetings during the past year were: —On the autumn meeting, L 1,918 2s; Anniversary meeting, L 594 7s 9d; May meeting, L 398 18a 6d ; Hunt Club meeting, L 232 10a lOd; spring meeting, L 1,043 18a lOd.
