A Sensational Divorce Suit.
An exceedingly sensational divorce case was on the calendar on November 1. The petitioner was Mrs Evelyn Georgina Beauclere, and the defendant Aubrey Debere Beanclcrc, of Ardglasa Castle, County Down, Ireland. The petitioner, who is a sister of the Dowager Countess of Rosslyn, revealed in her evidence a remarkable story. The marriage occurred as far back as 1860, and at that time her husband was a young man of twenty-one and she was a girl seven tten years old. He deserted her in 1862 for Carry Walters, who was popularly known by the sobriquet of "Skittles" (a celebrated member of the English dtmi moiuhabout whom several books have been written). She was later the beloved of Napoleon 111, Many other disgraceful in-
trigaea were proven against her. Eventually hia wife got a separation from him. Dezens of witnesses were called who proved the hoaband'a unfaithfulnes?, but the presiding judge refused to grant divorce, as there was no evidence of cruelty on the part of the husband, and in accordance with the law which governs tho granting of a divorce in the English courts that must be proved in addition to adultery.
