THE STATE OF CASTLE STREET.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Bting a constant traveller on the Dunedin City tramways, I have to complain of the filthy state the streets are kept in, especially the Castle street line. Comiug up to town after lunch to-day I was completely smothered in mud while standing on the front platform of the car. Surely something can be done to keep the tramway track clean, for mioe is not the only case. Everybody complains of the same thit j-. Those who want to have a smoke on their way up are obliged to stand in front according to the rules of the company.—l am, etc,, TWO O'CLOCK. Dunedin, July 11.
