The Colonial Secretary, who granted a permit to the promoters of the free public library jubilee art union, is not satisfied that the provisions of the Act are being complied with, and has informed the promoters thai the permit will be revoked. CHRISTCHURCH, January IS. The report and balance-sheet of the Canterbury Typographical Association discloses a flourishing state of affairs. After an expendituie of L 72 the year closed with a credit balance of LIOO. At the annual meeting of the Canterbury Industrial Association, held last night, the balance-sheet showed receipts L 44 3s 7d, and expenditure L 44 Is 3d. Lord Onslow was elected patron and Mr A. H. Beaven president.
