• Th v e P r ® liminar y Church Committee met in the Dundas street Church yesterdav at 9 30. After devotional exercises in which the Revs. J. Dambell. P. W. Jones and Mr D. Goldie, M.H.R.,’took part The following officers were appointed ; -Chair: man, Mr C. M. Luke ; vice-chairman, MrJ' Bellringer; secretary, Rev., W. Harris • letter-writes, Rev. T. H.. Lyon and Mr, W ? n .®. ! Rev. J. Gay and Mr DJ Goldie, M.H.R. ■ .
The Committee (numbering thirty-five) then proceeded to examine the state of the various church trusts, and up to the time of going to press the churches in Wellington, Auckland, Invercargill, Christchurch, Timaru, and Thames had been dealt with, the returns being generally of a satisfactory character and showing a reduction of debt upon several churches
