As It Should Be.

The following correspondence anent the dedication of the Shomer Emunin Temple in Toledo, and published in the 'American Israelite,' is self-explanatory:— St. Francis Pe Sales' Church, Toledo. 0., September 12. Messrs G. Blcch, J. Lasalle, M. M. Eppateitr, and others. Gentlemen,—Your kind invitation to attend the dedication services of your new temple received with thanks. Previous official engagements will prevent my presence, but I nevertheless most heartily thanK you for remembering | me in connection with your joyous festivities. I Gentlemen, I cannot forget that you are the descendants of the chosen race of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. I c»nnot forget that your once mighty King, the wisest man that the world ever saw. built the grandest temple ever elected on earth to the true God. I cannot forget that my Master, Jesus of Nazareth, was, according ti> his humanity, a member of your noble, old, historic race, and though you do not beiieve with me regaidmg bis divinity, you cannot blame me and my eo-religioniets for following .Him as our Redeemer and our God, for we firmly believe that he shed his blood on Calvary for your redemption and for ours, aiid for the eternal salvation of the whole world. Thank God, the Jew and the Catholic and the Protestant are free to worship the Creator according to their conscientious belief in this glorious Republic. Your peoplo and mine have fmffered untold persecutions and miseries at tbe bauds of fanatics. Thank God, the days of persecution for conscience sake have passed away for over in oar beloved country, and we are here free to worship the Great Jehovah after the manner of our hearts Mid consciences. Sir, —Yours of 12th July duly received, and I am instructed by the committee to acknowledge the receipt of tlio same. By a vote it was unanimously resolved to lay your communication before the congregational meeting. By your noble expressions you have shown yourself worthy to bo " a priest after the order of Melchiscdec,"and " a fit messenger of Him who is proclaimed the Prince of Peace."
