I cannot forget that my Master, Jesus of Nazareth, was, according ti> his humanity, a member of your noble, old, historic race, and though you do not beiieve with me regaidmg bis divinity, you cannot blame me and my eo-religioniets for following .Him as our Redeemer and our God, for we firmly believe that he shed his blood on Calvary for your redemption and for ours, aiid for the eternal salvation of the whole world. Thank God, the Jew and the Catholic and the Protestant are free to worship the Creator according to their conscientious belief in this glorious Republic. Your peoplo and mine have fmffered untold persecutions and miseries at tbe bauds of fanatics. Thank God, the days of persecution for conscience sake have passed away for over in oar beloved country, and we are here free to worship the Great Jehovah after the manner of our hearts Mid consciences.
