THE COURTS-TO-DAY.
CITY POLICE COURT. (Before Messrs J. Logan and T. M. Wilkinson, J.P.s.) An Or,sTREi'KROUS Man.— Thou. O'Connor (eleven previous convictions) was charged with assaulting Sophia O'Connor on the 6th inst. Accused pleaded guilty.—Sergeantmajor lievin said that Mrs O'Connor asked that her husband be bound over to keep the peace, as ho was assaulting her with an irori bar at tho time he was arrested.—Accused was sentenced to one month's imprisonment, with hard labor. The same accused was also charged with assaulting Constable Stewart while the latter was in the execution of his duty. Accused pleaded guilty.— Sergeant-mppr Bevin said that accused when arrested assaulted the constable, and aftor a tussle kicked him. He was very violent, and it took two policemen to bring him to tho station. He was a hard-working man when sober, but was very bad when drunk.—He was sentenced to one month's imprisonment, with hard labor.
