The programme of the Takapuna J. Bain, a sprint runner hailing from Canterbury and Otago, the distances being 100 yds, 220 yds, and 440y(?s; L2O aside. Bain won the 100 yds eTent by about half a yard, but Gaukrodger ran clean away from him in tn3 other two events. In the 440 yds race Bain was beaten before half the distance had been covered, and did not finish. The match came off on the racecourse before a large number of spectators. The greyhounds which were sold at auction by Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. on Saturday did not realise very big prices. Six dogs were disposed of, the highest price given for any dog being LI 15s. A practice match was played at Tahuna Park on Saturday between teams captained by Trythall (defence) and Sharpe (attack) and resulted in a draw, each side scoring a goal.
