ADVANCE IN PRICES. [By Elecitbio Telegraph—Copyright. | [Feb Pbess Association.] LONDON, Ai'ril 7. (Received April 8,1889, at 2 p.m.) At the wool sales the indications arc of increasing strength. An advance has taken place, chiefly in fine and greasy merinocs. Home and foreign buyers are competing with great spirit. The quantity of wool catalogued up to date is 58,600 bales, and of these the Home trade have purchased 56,800. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company have been advised, under date the sth inst.:—" The wool sales gain in firmness as they progress." Messrs Dalgety and Co, have received the following telegram from their head office, dated London, yesterday:—"Wool sales active, competition brisk, buyers from all quarters operating freely. Since our last wire the bulk of wools show a rise of Jd to £d per lb."
