A STRIKE ENDED.

The Cape Foulwind lock-ont labor difficulty is now practically settled. The contractors agree to take on the men who are locked out at the old rate of wages (9s a day). The truck system is to be abolished, and union men in future are to get the preference. The Government agree to allow the contractors to increase the output of stone. This settlement was made between Messrs Wilkie Brothers, contractors, and the Committee of the union, the mediator being Mr C. Y. O'Conor, Under-Secretary of Public Works. These terms have been accepted by the men, and work will be resumed on Monday next.
