The agricultural statistics for the counties of Bruce, Tuapeka, and Clutha are as follows Bruce County. —Number of holdings: Freohold, 402 (1888, 497); rented, 119 (1898, 109); part freehold and part rented, 66 (1888, 70) : Land under crop (acres) : In wheat, 6,425 (1888, 7,852); in oats for feed, 9G5 (1888, 1,272); in oats for grain, 11,784 (1888, 15,494); in barley, 614 (1888, 435); in bay, 62 (1888, 426); in grasses after having been broken up, 69,690 (1888, 67,928); grass-sown lands not previously ploughed, 3,862 (1888, 1,920); in potatoes, 363 (1888, 428). Estimated produce (bushels) : Wheat, 186,973 (1888, 245.116); oats, 486.095 (1888, 463,232); barley. 17.752 (1888, 10,015); hay (tons), 122 (1888, 876); potatoes (tons), 1,763 (1888, 2,310). In turnips or rape (acres): 11,207 (1888, 10,061); in other crops, 54 (1888, 57). Number of dairy cows, 3,298. Tuapeka County. —Number of holdings; Freehold, 404 (1888, 380); rented, 43 (1888. 105); part freehold and part rented, 17 (1888, 35).
