A PRECAUTIONARY MEASURE.

TO THE EDITOR. SiE,— I do not remember for a long time seeing the Btonea on the St. Clair beach, which are usually covered up with sand, so much exposed as just now; and I would suggest that they abould immediately be gathered up and placed all along under the St. Clair seawall. A bank of loose boulders along tho wall would be its best defence. But if this is to be done, it should be done at once, for in a few days these stones may be all covered up with sand again. A good number of hands would be required to do the thing quickly during one or two hj w tidt s, The material could not be nearer at hand, nor a more effective use be made of it. A hundred active volunteer boys, with a few cxtomporiscd hand-barrows, would make very short work of it, and savo the remainder of the wall.—l am, cto., Kxi'KUITION, St, Clair, March IS.
