SPORTING INTELLIGENCE.
Lawlor, who accompanied the New Zealand team to England in order to coach them in the Victorian game, ha? written to a friend in Melbourne respecting the doings of the tea"m. He speaks in terms of the highest eulogy concerning the determination, pluck, and energy which his pupils exhibit invariably, and he says they attend assiduously to training and to keeping themselves in form. His one regret is that they are engaged nearly every day in the week playing matches, and have consequently not too frequent opportunities of practising the Australian game. Notwithstanding this they are ijiaking great progress in tho important poiritii, and iheir little riiarliing and goal-kicking are equal to any thing their preceptor has seen. Of M'Causland he speaks in glowing terms, not only on account of his good general play, but principally because of his wonderfully accurate goal-kicking. The attendances at most of their engagements have been large, but notquite so large as was anticipated, and owing to the fact that 3d and 6d are the usual charges for admission, the financial aspect of the undertaking is slightly disappointing to tho managers, LAWN TENNIS TOURNAMENT.
